Meet the creative team behind The Long Rider.
The protagonist - Filipe Masetti LeiteFilipe Masetti Leite is a world-renowned Long Rider, award-winning journalist, and best-selling author. The Brazilian-born cowboy is the youngest person in the world to cross the Americas on horseback. The first pair of boots he wore on his long ride are on display at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, and his two statues, more than five meters tall, have been erected in Brazil to celebrate his feat. THE EDITOR - LEE WALKERAs an award nominated film and television Editor, Lee has more than a decade of editing experience in scripted and unscripted storytelling. Working between Vancouver and Toronto, her work has aired on national and international broadcasters (CBC, SYFY, USA Network, The National Geographic Channel, YTV, History TV, HGTV and Lifetime ) as well as in festivals worldwide (TIFF, NSI, Palm Springs, North Hollywood, New Jersey, Beaufort and The Canadian Film Fest). Her work on the feature documentary Shadows of Freedom and on the CBC series Kim’s Convenience has garnered her multiple Directors Guild of Canada nominations. A graduate of Ryerson University’s Film Studies Program, Lee is also a member of the Directors Guild of Canada, the Canadian Cinema Editors and is a Canadian Film Centre alumnus. |
The director - Sean CisternaSean Cisterna is a multi award-winning filmmaker who recently directed From the Vine (2019), an international coproduction set around the world of Italian wine, starring Emmy winner Joe Pantoliano. Cisterna directed the critically acclaimed teen cancer drama Kiss and Cry (2017), as well as Full Out (2015), a gymnastics film starring the iconic Jennifer Beals, both on Netflix worldwide.
THE COMPOSER - EDGARDO MORENOEdgardo Moreno is a Hamilton-based composer that has been commissioned for projects in Canada, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Sweden, Argentina, England and USA. He has written scores for films produced by CBC, Bravo, City TV, NFB, OMNI, Ontario Arts Council, History Channel, TVO. He has worked extensively with contemporary dance choreographers creating sound design and musical scores. He is presently working in creating video and live sound pieces that are part of his Firefly project. |

THE LONG RIDER'S GUILDThe Long Riders' Guild is the world's first international association of equestrian explorers, and is an invitation-only organization. It was formed in 1994 to represent men and women of all nations who have ridden more than 1,000 continuous miles on a single equestrian journey. It marks the first time in modern equestrian history that like-minded men and women are combining efforts to preserve a hitherto unmarked heritage and provide an international forum to discuss our mutual love of horses and travel. |
ASSOCIATE PRODUCER - PETER HAWKINSPeter Hawkins is an award-winning business owner, mentor, speaker and producer. He is the co-owner of MELLOHAWK Logistics, Mississauga Board of Trade Business Person of the Year, the Canadian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) Exporter of the Year, Xpert Logistics Global Service Provider of the Year and coach of two Canadian Young Freight Forwarders of the Year (CIFFA). He is co-Chair of the Brazil Canada Chamber of Commerce (BCCC), Chair of the Professional Advisory Committee (PAC) for the International Business Program for Sheridan College and a mentor with ACCES Employment. Peter is a volunteer mentor and champion of newcomers, new grads, women entrepreneurs and people re-entering the workforce and twice been recognized by international Brazilian community organizations. He speaks often at Schulich, Ryerson’s Ted Rogers, Centennial College, Sheridan College, Lambton College, Mohawk College and various Chambers of Commerce and associations. His decades in international business and publishing have led to the success of the books Long Ride Home, Long Ride to the End of the World and (the upcoming) Last Long Ride.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER - ARNON MELOArnon Melo is an awarding-winning entrepreneur, community organizer, actor and producer. Credits include actor/producer roles in the indie films: Pedro Levantate (2008), Stiff Luv (2008), My Heart Belongs to Daddy (2001), and roles in theatrical works Hockey: The Musical, Pajama Tops, and The Sunshine Boys (all 2008) at the North York Center for the Performing Arts. He trained at Second City Improv, George Brown Collage and Sears & Switzer. He is the founder of MELLOHAWK Logistics and sits on the national board of the Canadian International Freight Forwarding Association and chairs the Professional Advisory Committee for Seneca College. He is a two-term member of the CONCID, the Brazilian Citizenship Council for Brazilians living outside of Brazil. This year he was awarded the Order of Rio Branco, Brazil’s highest honour, for outstanding contribution to promoting the image of Brazil to the world. Arnon’s company was a sponsor of Filipe’s Long Rides.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER - LANDON THORNELandon is a dynamic entrepreneur with extensive connections in domestic and foreign political, financial, industrial, and defence leadership. Currently an active angel and venture capital investor with a passion for assisting independent filmmakers on their path to success. Landon is one of the community leaders seeking to rebuild an active film-making presence in Beaufort, SC where great classic films have been made such as "The Big Chill", The Great Santini", "Prince of Tides", and "Forrest Gump". A committed sponsor of the Beaufort International Film Festival, Landon energetically supports the festival's mission to grow awareness of the South Carolina Lowcountry as an ideal venue for film-makers.
